Appellation contrôlée
For the French, wine is much more than an everyday product or a daily drink.
True culture, tradition and art of living are inextricably linked to it.
Every year, the population of towns and villages prepares for the grape harvest. All residents participate in the work related to it in an atmosphere of celebration and joy. This period is short but intense, stressful and exciting at the same time. There is a strange atmosphere of intoxication in the air, even though the process of wine birth is just beginning.
The author chose this topic of the reportage not by chance. He was lucky enough to spend his childhood among the vineyards and was somehow 'marked by the grape harvest’.
In his project, he wanted to confront contemporary realities with an idealized childhood memory. After two weeks spent among French vineyards, one thing turned out to be certain – the love and passion of the winemaker remained unchanged, only the techniques of the difficult art of vintage have evolved.
